The New iPods Are That Good
Too bad the iPod doesn't include a microphone for VoIP.
Second, the iPod Touch doesn’t have an audio input jack. That means you can’t use it for Skype, or other VOIP services. You can do IMing through web sites, though the Business Week article argues that it’s pretty awkward.

HTC S620 Upgrade, Anyone?
Frustrated waiting for an upgrade to the HTC S620 here.
Sure, I could flash my S620 to the T-Mobile WM6 ROM. I'd rather not [deal with all the T-Mo ...stuff]. Although, I might. Both my JasJar (which I used purely for dev) and my Wizard (Cingular 8100) are now WM6-ified. I'm missing the WM6 goodness on my S620...

Noise Pollution Inc.
A few days ago, Richard Burkard of Burkard’s Blog of Columbus suggested that we run a sampling of our cell phone ring tones for public opinion. It came in the form of a comment to a post we had run regarding cell phones (ours) and the genuinely stomach wrenching ringtones that came native to them.

In Europe, They Like Their VoIP
Voice over Internet Protocol is a fast-growing business in the United States, but it’s growing even faster in Europe, and its traction in the old world is only going to increase. With competitive broadband service providers (such as France’s Free and Talk Talk in the UK) offering flat-rate voice plans over their high-speed pipes and wireless carriers embracing triple-play offerings, Europe is poised to emerge as one of the regions where VoIP has a major impact.

Windows Mobile Versus iPhone
Some statistics on the evolving smartphone market.
A recently conducted survey by Markitecture discussed here at Mobility Today provided some interesting insight into the smartphone wars that are about to begin (or in some cases are already at large). In actual fact the results that 6% of those surveyed would buy an iPhone was imho not a surprise and I'm not sure that this necessarily directly correlates to market share. If you follow the link through to the source at MacWorld there is an arrogant quote by Steve Ballmer about iPhone not getting market share - given how widely Microsoft missed the web boat, can they really afford to be this arrogant in another emerging market.

T-Mobile The Mobile Search Leader?
I knew that T-Mobile was using Medio Systems as I tested this new mobile content search service in August. A full review has already been written in The Mobile Search analyst and I have also discovered that T-Mobile offers not one but five mobile search providers on its Internet portal. I thought this was a gimmick - but it isn't - now even t-zones and Web 'n' walk are strangely inter-linked.

iPod, Schmi-Pod...
In the middle of an iPhone rant, an admission of owning a Razr.
I have the Motorola Razor and still cannot figure it out... I can call and I can check VOICE messages... even somewhat text when I HAVE to, but shit, I hardly use any of its features.. I don't need to... Remember, it was not 20 years ago when we would actually leave home to go to work or school and actually not be able to talk to anyone until we got to our destination... we had to pay for long distance calls... there was not wide use of emails... you had two numbers, home and work and both those had voicemail... we were not pissed about dropped calls or not being able to check email every 5 seconds

Fishing For Content
Free ringtones over at Cellfish.
Done? Ok great. One thing that I have figured out is you can upload your pictures, video and stuff and transfer it over to your phone. Also there is a bunch of sweet Free Ringtones stuff. Also I figured out how to change your email/txt notifications. When your logged in go to my account, then select Messaging/Alert Tab. You can figure it out once your there.

Who's There?
And the point is this:
This is one of the weirdest proposals we think we have ever heard. Researchers Dale Joachim, an MIT electrical engineer and biologist Eben Goodale are proposing giving cell phones to owls.

Powering Up InFlight
You might not be able to use your cell phone on board, but now you can charge it.
This gizmo is the Inflight USB Power Unit , a gadget that plugs into the armrest headphone jacks found in most commercial airplane seats to power iPods, cell phones, and similar devices through their USB connections.

Back Online!
I am just off the phone after several hours with some very patient troubleshooters in North Carolina (BellSouth) and India (Linksys). And I am reconnected to the internet! It has been a frustrating two or three days.

Where Is The 16gb iPhone?
Really want to know more:
Amidst all the hubbub this week, including a plethora of new iPods, public relations moves that were strokes of genius and more media coverage than the latest flashing of naughty bits of Britney Lohalton, there is one item conspicuously missing: the 16gb iPhone.

LG VX10000 Spy Shots
Here you go spyshot fans: purported pics of LG’s new VX10000 and VX8800 handsets which recently cleared FCC approval. They’re definitely grainy pics of something with all the naughty bits blocked to protect the innocent.
