I Hate Proprietary Software for Gadgets
Trying to get the LG phones to talk toWhen we migrated to Cingular and got our current LG phones, I ordered software for the new phones. It works, but you can get a good idea of how useful it turned out to be by the fact the cable and software now live on Chris’ computer and it’s probably been over a year since I did anything with it. I couldn’t tell you if she’s ever used it, even though I installed it on her computer so she could.

Yahoo Blow 2.0
Trying to make Yahoo Go work withNext up, I tried downloading the new Yahoo Go 2.0 application. You have to download it from your operator by submitting your phone number and then they send you the URL via SMS. Unfortunately I don’t use a RAZR or Windows Mobile. Looks like Symbian isn’t supported and if I missed it somewhere, my guess is that others have as well.

Email In Outlook Mobile
If you have a Treo 700, here's a goodI don’t sync my email with Outlook on my PC. Instead, I use Outlook Mobile on my Treo 700w to connect directly to the University’s mail server. Below, I describe the steps I took to configure IMAP. Please note, however, that this is a limited solution. I only lets me see mail in my Inbox, not other folders. For me, this is adequate.

Motorola RAZR V3M Videos
Nice write-upJust got a new Verizon RAZR V3M phone and being how I am I have to see what I can do with it. The is no Java on this so I’m pretty much stuck with BREW which means I’ll have to buy apps off of Verizon’s service. Bummer since there is a lot of good Java apps for this phone available. Verizon has done a lot of things to make the phone as non-customizable as possible, less for them to worry about with support (curse the world of idiots!).

Vonage Versus Covad
I’ve been following the progress of two very different companies with a very similar M.O.: capture business at the ILECs’ expense. These two companies are Covad and Vonage. Both share a desire to compete against the Bells, and both offer a net result of the Bells losing revenue. But one is diversified, forward-looking, and asset-rich (Covad) while the other is mired in question marks and is asset-poor (Vonage).

Snakes On A Phone
This blogger finds a popularBut later Nokia phones that I owned seemed to abandon games altogether. My last phone was a Sony Ericsson W810i, and aside from its laughable excuse for a keypad, it didn’t seem to have any particularly compelling games on it.
