Apple Releases iPhone
While you're waiting for your iPhone, you might want to pick up an iPodThe cons of this device. Now not having tested a device it is really hard to criticize it. There are two major factors that are going to play in how well this phone does. Number one is the price. It weighs in at a whopping $600 with a two year Cingular contract. Ouch. That is a little much for me to pay for this device, even if it does everything I want it to do. I think Apple has priced this higher than most people will be able to afford for a device of this kind. The second problem I have with the iPhone is Cingular.

Dear Yellow Pages
A little telephone directory rantthink it’s great that people still use things like a phone book to look up a number. But I a) hate talking to anyone on the phone so much that I let my answering machine get EVERYTHING b) won’t call anyone unless I absolutely have to, and usually know the number already c) don’t mind paying $.50 for 411 if it saves me time and effort rather than hauling out a 6lb book and trying to find the number and searching through 1000 pages for something, and d) I HAVE THE FREAKING INTERNET!!

Cell Phone Cancer
Will you get cancerThat hasn’t stopped the San Francisco Chronicle from reporting known lies, however. They say that “millions of people who are expected to buy Apple’s iPhone should consider this first: Mobile phones emit radiation, cause damage to brain tissue, and produce the kind of cancer that kills rats in laboratory experiments”. In other words, they argue that if you buy an Apple iPhone, you’re going to die of cancer.

Where Does Time Go?
The BlackberryI started thinking about this last night and how our lives have become so much busier in a world that was supposed to supply technologies that made things easier. This would have to be the main reason I refuse to have a blackberry - Why on earth do I need phone calls, sms messages, and my email coming to me immediately!! When did the device take control of my life? I realise there is the off button that I can press when I get home of an evening - But how many people resist the temptation to just quickly check the latest email?

Bye Bye Cingular
AT&T becomes SBC becomes CingularCingular Wireless LLC bought AT&T Wireless, then an independent company, and killed off the AT&T Wireless brand. The owners of Cingular, SBC, then decided to buy AT&T and adopted the brand for its landline services. My Skype Experience
A few weeks ago I became more interested in Skype than I ever have been. Since moving abroad in 2004 Vonage has provided all of my telephony needs and has worked great. The benefits of VoIP are just huge… and I’m still surprised at how many people are completely clueless about it.

Rename That iPhone Challenge
Who will own the iPhone nameApple already knew that Cisco owns the trademark for iPhone. It’s been under Cisco since way back 1996. I guess when rumors about Apple going out with their own mobile phone, Cisco made its move and released a cheap VoIP phone last quarter and used their iPhone trademark. Cisco is a $176 billion dollar company so I don’t think this was about more money again.

Apple iPhone
Trading a Treo 650I generally keep up with what is going on in the mobile phone sector. The competing technologies, new phones, etc. despite that I still have my trusty Treo 650. I have been waiting for a new phone that would do everything the Treo does, and does it a bit better. From my initial impression, I think the iPhone could have been it.

Cingular And Apple Join Together
Now the CingularWall Street Journal is reporting that Cingular and Apple are to be joining forces. Now this isn’t a set in stone fact, but it’s almost 90% true. I surely do hope that Steve Jobs announces the iPhone tomorrow. I have a little bit of money set back right now and might even think of purchasing this phone. I just hope it’s not like any other iTunes enabled phone. Either way, we’ll see tomorrow at MacWorld 2007.

Last time was a review comparison of the Blackberry 8700 vs the Treo 700, which seemed to capture a TON of attention and started a community of it’s own. It’s the #1 post I have for comments, and the #2 post in visitors on this entire blog. There seems to be an amazing amount of questions and community surrounding these phones.
