Blackberry 8800 Versus Treo 750
Comparing the Blackberry 8800Well, it’s been a while since I’ve done a gadget review. Last time was a review comparison of the Blackberry 8700 vs the Treo 700, which seemed to capture a TON of attention and started a community of it’s own. It’s the #1 post I have for comments, and the #2 post in visitors on this entire blog. There seems to be an amazing amount of questions and community surrounding these phones.

Well...
Here it is... September 2007, and now that both the 8800 and the 750 have been out on the market for a while now, I would appreciate some learned insight from those of you who've had contact with each model.
I have never owned a PDA, though I'm pretty technologically savvy everywhere else. I started traveling a lot recently, and need to dump the Franklin planner for something more portable, yet equally effective.
I'm unable to use a camera given the nature of my work in the aero-engine industry (I actually have to get rid of a cell phone with which I am very happy for this reason).
So, before I start peppering my colleagues with questions, and answers to the ones I forgot to ask, here are a couple of things I cannot change:
1. My company uses Outlook, therefore, I use Outlook.
2. I use AT&T. This is inviolate for the time being.
My conundrum is: Which Smartphone is best (I could care less about social status)? I love the intuitive nature that drives the iPhone, but it has a camera, so... What's next?
Between the 8800 and the 750, which has better:
* functionailty?
* intuitive interface?
* capability with Word and Excel documents, and does either allow for editing in wither format?
* internet access and search speeds/capabilities?
* OS reliability
* facility for disc optimization (does the BB even have this problem?)?
* provision for the next generation of Bluetooth advancements?
* International communications capabilities (the comm. plans of which must not force me to re-mortgage the house to foot the monthly bill)?
* Multi-computer syncing capability?
I'm sure I've forgotten something, so feel free to fill in the blanks. I may even be interested in newer models of which I'm not yet familiar...
Thanks all... Happy Labor Day!
